Taco Bender: 1981 Honda CX500 Cafe Racer

I have always thought that Honda CX500 was a good donor for a custom build. Here is a bike that is on ebay right now that displays what can be done with a little imagination and some skilled hands.

This is one truely unique honda cx500 that really does stand out where ever it goes. I've decided to make the bike different by fabricating a rear frame to hold a 2009 Yamaha R1 monoshock rather then dual stock shocks. The seat pan and tail housing is also fabricated to hold battery and small storage area under kustom made tuck n roll seat. The rear bullet style tailight is also led for a little extra safety and found it runs cooler to the touch. I mounted a 2010 inverted front fork on the bike from a Hyosung gt600r, this was done so that i could mount a 16 inch rear wheel and drum brake on the front , to match the rear wheel on it . The bike really stands out with the fat tires on both ends. I also fabricated a small nacelle for holding some wiring and a retrofit by-xenon single projector headlight system that works amazing out on the twistys at night. It has clip-on handle bars with brand new levers, cables, and grips with just a simple stock tachometer guage with biult in temp guage. The front fender, aluminum fender and brake brackets were made in-house along with the 2 into 1 open exhaust wrapped in cloth. The bike has new tires 130/90/16s, new brake shoes f/r,both carbs rebiult and jetted, pod air filters, new gloss black and satin black paint with met.gold and engine turned decal. The bike is loud and fast and rides very well , comes with a brand new never used open faced helmet
